Solving Oura’s Biggest Flaw: Designing a Universal, Gravity-Assisted Travel Charger for All Sizes

If you are an Oura Ring user, you probably love its sleek form factor and health-tracking capabilities. But if you travel often or own multiple rings across generations, you know the biggest pain point: the charger. Oura’s stock chargers are notoriously bulky, desktop-bound, and strictly size-specific. Buy a new size? Buy a new charger. Pack for a trip? Good luck finding space for that rigid puck. As a hardware product designer, I wanted to fix this. Here is how I approached designing a Universal, Gravity-Assisted Travel Charger for Oura Rings (covering Sizes 6 through 13). 1.
